Qlik Sense Apps fail to reload with Access credentials are not valid for this connection.

A Qlik Sense app fails to reload with the following error in the script log:

Error: Connector reply error: Unable to connect to database
Error message:
Please check the values for Username‚ Password‚ Host and other properties.
Description: Access credentials are not valid for this connection.

Even though the same error may be registered for other issues, in most cases this is due to the user account used in the connection or incorrect credentials.

Resolution:

Verify the user configured in the connection is granted the proper permissions, is enabled, and the password is correctly typed.

Environment:

Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows

Hello Sonja,

We are currently facing this type of issue with one of the Azure SQL Databases:

Error: Connector reply error: Unable to connect to database:
Error message:
Please check the values for Username‚ Password‚ Host and other properties.
Description: Client unable to establish connection

However, this error is intermittent, it fails only sometimes. I manually tested the connection from the Data load editor and we have for example 3 consecutive successful tests and the 4th fails with this error. The same thing happens when the app is triggered, it fails from time to time.

What could be the root cause?

How can we investigate this?

Thank you in advance.

Hello @alex_rosu

I would recommend posting this query directly in our forums where you can benefit from out active community and engineers monitoring the situation (as this will require investigation which we cannot do in an article).

The best forum is: Qlik Sense Data Connectivity and Prep.

Hi @Sonja_Bauernfeind ,

Thank you for your reply and apologies for not being clear.

I am trying to handle the error in your article as it popped up in a critical app. I am using these variables to do so: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense/November2022/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/Scripting/ErrorVaria...

However, I am unable to recreate the error to check what ScriptError it returns. I am expecting Error code 3 "General ODBC error to be returned", but I wanted a confirmation.

So my question is, what is the ScriptError that is returned in the app when this error happens?

Thank you.
