The new feature "Insights" (Insight Advisor) causes Data Profiling services (DataPrepService) to crash with the following error which may be displayed either while on the Insights page or later while editing the application (i.e. while in Data load editor or Master items objects):

An error occurred
Data Profiling service connection failed. Refresh your browser

The following is seen in the Windows Event Application logs:

The description for Event ID '300' in Source 'Qlik Sense Service Dispatcher' cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display the message, or you may not have permission to access them. The following information is part of the event:'Unexpected termination (0) for process 0
Facility = Data Preparation
ExePath = Node\node.exe
Script = ..\DataPrepService\src\service.js'

Environment:

  • Qlik Sense Enterprise February 2019
  • Qlik Sense Enterprise February 2019 Patch 2
  • Qlik Sense Enterprise April 2019

Cause:

Defect QLIK-94635

Resolution:

Fixed versions:

  • Qlik Sense February 2019 Patch 4
  • Qlik Sense April 2019 Patch 1
  • Qlik Sense June 2019
  • And later.

See for example the June 2019 Release Notes for details on QLIK-94635.

Workaround:

  • Disable the Insights feature by setting the following variable in app's load script: SET DISABLE_INSIGHTS=1;
  • To Disable also the Associative Insights present in Selections menu add in the app script also the option: SET DISABLE_SELECTION_INSIGHTS = 1 ;

Another possible workaround is to inquire about the possibility of disabling the insights capability. Please contact support for details.
