A Qlik Sense Data Connection is being set up to a share hosted outside the Windows Domain. The folder connection attempt returns Invalid Path.
The Share is otherwise accessible by a specified account.
Scenario:
- Machine A and B both have an account called "Administrator" with the password "123456". Machine A has a Domain Account with the same name and password.
- The Qlik Sense Service account is a domain account called domain\SenseService. It does not exist on Machine B.
This scenario returns Invalid Path when attempting to add a new Data Connection in the Sense Hub.
It returns the same Invalid Path when modifying an existing Data Connection in the Qlik Sense Management Console.
The reason being, is that the service account is being used in the background, and Sense is unable to provide credentials.
Environment:
Resolution:
It is recommended to have file shares made available inside the same Windows Domain as the Qlik Sense services.
A possible workaround would be to use Windows's capabilities using identical account names and password.
Scenario:
- Machine A and B both have an account called "Administrator" with the password "123456". Machine A has a Domain Account with the same name and password.
- The QlikSense Service account is run with the DOMAIN account Administrator, identical 123456 password.
This will allow for a data connection, as Sense will now use the service account with its identical credentials. This is not a recommended solution.
