Qlik Sense nodes show as stopped in QMC and "Internal inconsistency, type B" errors in Engine logs

A Qlik Sense rim node may show in the Qlik Sense Management Console that its services are stopped. When the user inspects the services it is determined that they are all running. 

Inspecting the *System_Engine*.* trace log in the current or archive directories will show this ERROR:
"Restart: Server aborted trying to recover by a restart. Reason for restart: Internal inconsistency, type B, detected"

Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows, any version
