When troubleshooting a generic ODBC / OLE DB connection issue in QlikView or Qlik Sense, an important step is to identify whether the issue is at the ODBC driver or OLE DB provider or in the Qlik product.

Multiple third-party tools can be used to verify connections, such as DBeaver (open-source database tool), or simply Microsoft Excel. Verifying if the connection is successful with these third-party tools can verify if the issue is with the database (credentials, configuration, network connectivity), or with Qlik Sense in case of success.

For examples with Microsoft Excel, see:

Note: It is important that Excel is installed on the same server with QlikView/ Qlik Sense, and is executed under the same account running QlikView Server / Qlik Sense Engine services or QlikView/ Qlik Sense Desktop

Environments:
  • QlikView all versions
  • Qlik Sense all versions
