Qlik Sense App open fails with An error occurred. Connection lost after App reload

The error An error occurred. Connection lost is displayed when attempting to open an App on the Qlik Sense hub.
Clicking the error away leads to: Connection lost. Make sure that Qlik Sense is running properly. If your session has timed out due to inactivity, refresh to continue working.
The issue occurs after the app has run data reload.
Restarting the Engine service resolved the issue until another reload is carried out.
Qlik Sense: all versions
The data source contains invalid UTF-8 characters in fields. As the result, returning those invalid strings caused Qlik Sense Client can not render them. Upon engine restart, the invalid characters were cleared out.

The data source and tables will need to be reviewed to verify that only valid UTF characters are stored. Correct the data and repopulate the fields.
