During the data loading process from from the Data Load Editor, an error "CONNECTs other than LIB CONNECT are not available in this script mode. The error occurred here: CONNECT TO *** "

For Qlik Sense Desktop version, it allows enabling certain features when running in legacy mode. A prime example of this is using the Connect to statement to create the ODBC/OLEDB connection strings or attempting to connect to a database as PostgreSQL.

To disable the standard mode and enter the legacy mode in Qlik Sense Desktop, refer to Disabling standard mode.

However, one must note that enabling the legacy mode has security implications, if the application is deployed on the Sense server then one does not have control over the data connections in QMC (if the legacy mode is activated). The library security features may also be lost; moreover, the legacy mode does not work with Qlik Cloud either.

A recommended approach is to create the new data connection in Data connections pane, then use 'Lib Connect to'  code by clicking the 'Insert connection string' button (highlighted in screenshot below)  to insert the connection string to the text editor.
