When data is added, Qlik Sense interprets the field type of each field. The following field types are currently supported:

  •  General
  •  Date
  • Timestamp
  •  Geo data

However, for calculated fields created in Data Manager, types cannot be interpreted.

Let's say we have a Date field already in our data model (StartDate). Now when I want to create a new calculated date field, I do this - Date(AddYears(StartDate,8)). The calculated field is created successfully, but it's not detected as a 'Date' type field.

Resolution:

This is working as designed. An improvement request was logged with ID QLIK-89038. For updates on this request, please contact Qlik Support.

Current statement: We currently don't classify calculated fields by design (we don't allow the user to edit the classification on the calculated field either) but it's something we might be able to do now given that the profiling capability has evolved since the decision was made.
