Q&A - Configuring and Troubleshooting Web Connectors Q: Is it possible to use the Web Connector to start a task in NPrinting 17?
A: NPrinting has an API which can be used to start Tasks. You could trigger it using the General Web Connector doing a POST, but you can do this just fine with just the REST connector: https://community.qlik.com/thread/292037
Q: I have downloaded connectors today, but i get the error ' there is a new version available'
A: Since we need to stay up to date with changing APIS The Web Connector will expire to encourage people to upgrade. Just grab the latest version from our download site.
Q: Any special considerations when implementing the connectors in a multi-node environment?
A: Just make sure that every machine can access the web service. Ports need to be open and they need to be white listed in the web connector interface.
Q: How is the error handler in the General Web Connector? Let's say you get an "Error 404" as response. Is it possible to read the "code" field somehow?
A: The full http error should be displayed in the error message, accessed from the “last error” link or by copying the request URL into a browser.
Q: Hello, is it something special to consider when updating web connectors?
A: Make a backup of the folder, and especially the deploy.config. Since there is no installer involved you can have multiple versions on the same machine while upgrading (only one running).
Q: If I'm not installing the connectors to run as a service, how do I start it prior to executing a query in the script? Does the script execute it upon a reload or do I need to have started the connectors by some other means?
A: You can absolutely start the Web Connectors with an execute command form script, but the best practice would be to have them running at all times as a service.
