Upgrading from QlikView 12.10 track to QlikView 12.20 track (November 2017 and later) and using IIS you might end up with some error or symptoms in the Full Browser Client / AJAX as the following ones (especially if you are integrating QlikView to a portal):

The root cause is a new feature that has been introduced in 12.20 track, called Switch language, where end users can now choose UI language in the Profile settings in AccessPoint. In the URL in 12.20 the language part could be missing and that is causing the above behavior / errors.
If no language is specified, the server should consider English as the default. So, this is currently considered a bug.
The fix for bug QV-13427 is included in SR4 of QlikView November 2017 (12.20)
in the [Settings 7] section.
Then restart the services.
This will set English as default for all users that don't come via the Access Point or that have not set a specific language preference.
