Qlik Sense provides a built-in Essbase connector, which enables loading data into a Qlik Sense application from an Essbase dataset. When troubleshooting this connector, it is necessary to verify the connection outside of Qllik Sense in a similar method with the connector (i.e using server address, port, username and password). This helps identify whether the issue is at Qlik Essbase connector, or at the network connection between Essbase and Qlik Sense server. Verification steps are as follows:1.
Download and install Hyperion SmartView Add-on for Excel at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/epm/downloads/smart-view-1112x-2412371.html
. Depending on the Excel version, it might be necessary to find a matching SmartView Add-on version at https://docs.oracle.com/en/applications/?tab=82.
Make sure both Excel and the Add on are installed on the same server
with Qlik Sense3.
Open Excel > Smart View tab > Panel > Private Connections4.
In the Private Connections dialog, use the following link in the address bar: http://<ServerName>:<port>/aps/SmartView
with server name (or IP) and port matching the Essbase connector in Qlik Sense. Press connect (→) to open the link.5.
Expand the root Essbase node returned in the view. In Connect to Data Source
dialog, provide Essbase user name and password. Press "Connect".6.
Try fetching Essbase data into Excel: In the list of data source, right click a cube > Ad hoc analysis. The cube data should be inserted into the current Excel sheet.
