Customer has recently migrated to a new server with Windows server 2012 from an earlier version of windows server.
This migration also means that the previous version of oracle database connectors are upgraded too.
Qlikview data connection to oracle database with database connector 12.2 64 bit gives Error: QVX_UNEXPECTED_END_OF_DATA
in qlikview document log
The same connection works before with oracle database connector 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit. Nothing has changed in the database.
Switching the oracle database connector (ODBC or OLE DB) from 64bit to 32 bit, the error displayed is more elaborate. it should read QVX_UNEXPECTED_END_OF_DATA. SQL. ## - SqlState. $1000. ErrorCode: 29275, ErrorMsg [Oracle][ODBC][ORA]
Same error can be replicated if you use for example Microsoft excel to connect to the same database with the same parameters
See examples error below.
The error is thrown by the oracle connector.
The root cause is a corrupted entry or a specific garbage character in the database.
ORA-29275: partial multibyte character
See below for more explanation of this error
A Quick fix for this problem will be to convert the field which contains this data with an oracle query.
For instance: if field name is "region_name"
Then use the following to convert the field
convert(region_name, 'UTF8') as [region name]
For a permanent fix of this problem, you need to either fix the complex partial multibyte character in the database or contact oracle support.
