Scenario:

  • After cache generation of a connection between Nprinting and qlikview, qv.exe process is not closed / killed
  • This causes high RAM usage in the Nprinting server.. This could sometimes cause the server to crash or Nprinting server failing completely.
  • NP engine is forcefully closed leaving open background tasks and qv.exe and renderer.exe running in the background

Environment:

Qlik NPrinting , 17.x.x and newer

Cause:

Forcing the NP engine service closed via task manager leaves unfinished tasks and background processes in memory.

Resolution:

  • Allow the NP scheduler service to close QV.exe and renderer.exe processes gracefully.
  • If the NP services do not close gracefully, restart the NPrinting server to clear all processes running in the background.
