QlikView Management Console is responding badly: "The semaphore timeout period has expired" in the logs

The QlikView Management Console is slow or stuck in "Processing". The QlikView Management Service Logs show a The semaphore timeout period has expired error.

Or applications are failing at reloading or distribution with The semaphore timeout period has expired in the script log.

Resolution

The error is not generated by QlikView, it comes form the underlying Microsoft layer and it's captured by the QMS.
It is a symptom of network problems somewhere between the client computer and the QMS.

According to Microsoft: "Network connectivity problems have various causes, but they typically occur because of incorrect network adapters, incorrect switch settings, faulty hardware, or driver issues. Some connectivity symptoms are intermittent and do not clearly point to any one of these causes."
