Importing an app (.qvf) developed in the desktop client fails with Error 500.

The Service Repository log will show a 500 Forbidden error similar as below:

Command=Import app;Result=500;ResultText=Error: Security df1962b4-32e1-46e9-9ca1-265c98b11be4 323814f8-96bb-4e69-8c6d-e45c81f0e2aa 0 NTTSTDOM uncumqtaa d5588562-ac1d-4458-9540-eb210c570137 Portfolio Planning 24M Repository ManagementAccess /qrs/app/upload Import app 500 Forbidden [LOCERR_HTTP_403]:Forbidden(REST HTTP error) (HTTP code: 500) 61273a85-ef6a-405d-bc92-74e665f7a5ef

Another user, such as the RootAdmin may be able to import the app OK.

Environment:

Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows , all versions

Cause:

This is caused by a folder connection existing in the app. When the folder connection does not exist in the Qlik Sense server system exactly like this, the user will attempt to create the connection. The user will not have the permissions to do so.

Example below:

000016217a.png

  • A data connection exists in the app's Qlik Sense data load editor "lib://qlik/..."
  • When the user imports the .qvf through the QMC, the user needs permissions to create the "QLIK" folder connection if it does not already exist

More information please refer to Data connections:

If the name of a data connection in the imported app is the same as the name of an existing data connection, the data connection will not be imported. This means that the imported app will use the existing data connection with an identical name, not the data connection in the imported app.

Resolution:

  • Import the app with a different user (such as RootAdmin) who has permissions to create a folder connection.
  • Remove the data connection in the app load script and import without it.
