When generating Connection String for OLE DB Provider for Microsoft Directory Services as shown below:
It is highly likely this message shows up when trying to test connection:
When hitting "Yes", the following success message shows up regardless whether or not the provided information is correct:
In fact, the error or success messages of Test Connection can simply be ignored as they are always showing the same contents.
The only way to ensure Connection String is correct is actually running it.
There is a simple way to test run the string as described in article #6551.
When following the instruction to test Active Directory, make sure:
- $ConnectionString: the Connection String generated by QlikView or externally(please refer to article #6552).
- Example(please replace Password, User ID and Data Source with actual data):Provider=ADsDSOObject;Password=password;User ID=username;Encrypt Password=False;Data Source=ldap://AD.com;Mode=Read;Bind Flags=0;ADSI Flag=-2147483648
- $SQLquery("from" needs to be the same as "Data Source" in Connection String): select SN,givenName,sAMAccountName from 'ldap://AD.com' where sAMAccountName = '*'.
If the connection string is correct, it should be able to fetch data from Active Directory. Should any error happens, do troubleshooting accordingly.
