This article describes the issue when trying to lease license from the QlikView Server, however when tried from QlikView Desktop it will always stay Personal Edition. Often a "QlikView Server OEM license" does not support the "License Lease" functionality for QikView Desktop.
Note : OEM products are Qlik OEM partner's solutions powered by Qlik products. Thus Qlik Software is embedded in the partner's solution and should not be used alone. Typically the OEM agreement defines how the Qlik Software is embedded and integrated with the partner's solution. License lease, as a feature to lease a license for development purpose, is in general not available to OEM end customers, unless permitted by the OEM agreement.
In order to "lease a license" for QlikView Desktop from the "QliKView Server OEM license" needs to contain the following tags in the LEF :
- SPECIAL_EDITION;OEM;;
- LICENSE_LEASE;YES;;

Find below the needed criteria on possible root-cause and the steps on how to proceed to update the license (if needed):
- If "LICENSE_LEASE;YES;;" tag can not be found as a parameter in the "QlikView Server OEM" LEF the "License Lease" for QlikView Desktop won't work!
- To update the license (in case it should contain that parameter but for some reason it's not shown in the LEF) please reach out directly to your Account Owner or contact Customer Support
