When creating a new Folder connection in Sense you are not able to see your mapped network drives in the list.
Example 1:
Statement "Execute cmd.exe /C dir Z:;" with Z being a mapped network drive doesn't work, although this works with the same Qlik Sense service account in Command Prompt.
Example 2:
While adding data, browsing to the Shared files or Folder connections only lists physically mounted disks and no mounted network drives. See figure 1.
Figure 1:
Environment:
We have no support for showing mapped network drives as it is today. The problem is that Microsofts API to list devices not returns mapped network shares if they are not connected by the user context we run, i.e. engine process.
This is something that will be investigated for future Sense releases.
Mapped network drive is not yet supported as of the latest version of Qlik Sense. You can also observe this when creating a folder connection: Network drives do not show up in the available drive list. This is documented on the product help site (please refer to section "Loading files from local and network file folders" in this page).
A work-around solution is to use the full share path instead of network drive, for example Execute cmd.exe /C dir \\dc1\share > E:\TestData\mkdir.log
Or to manually insert the UNC path to the drive when browsing for Shared files and folder in the Data Connection. See Figure 2.

can you do a version of this article for qlik sense desktop?
how would a user create a connection to a network share, using Qlik Sense Desktop ?
I havent used Desktop in a while.... Can just click in the PATH field, and type in the fully qualified path to the network folder location. nevermind! -ken
