Proxy will NOT be listening to port 443, likely bound by another processArticle Number: 000005480 | Last Modified: 2017/05/03
When trying to load the QMC (Qlik Management Console) it will try to log in, but will never allow it. If you look at the the Proxy Log (C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Log\Proxy) You will likely have an error along these lines -
Proxy will NOT be listening to port 443, likely bound by another process An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.
In this example we are looking at another software blocking port 443, however the same may occur with any other port used by Qlik Sense Enterprise and the error message is similar. Keep this in mind when using the commands below.
In Windows PowerShell, run the following to determine if the Qlik Sense Proxy Service is listening to port 443:
PS> $procId = Get-Process Proxy | select -Property ID | select -ExpandProperty ID ; netstat -noa | sls $procId
When Qlik Sense Proxy Service is running correctly, the following result will be returned:
TCP 0.0.0.0:443 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 3924 TCP [::]:443 [::]:0 LISTENING 3924 TCP [::1]:53252 [::1]:4242 ESTABLISHED 3924
However if another process is binding to port 443, the result will look similar to this, missing mentions of port 443 specifically, as it is not bound to the "Proxy" process:
TCP [::1]:53576 [::1]:4242 ESTABLISHED 4080
In order to verify which process is holding port 443 currently, run the following command:
PS> netstat -noa | sls 443 TCP 0.0.0.0:443 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 4 - -
The rightmost column indicates the Process ID (PID), which does not match the PID for Proxy.exe above. The above indicates that port 443 is being used by a System process, however due to a limitation in Windows, it is not possible to determine what actual process is running under said PID. All services/third-party software must be verified and tested to determine if it is using common ports for network communication.
