The inter record function FieldValue(<FieldName
>, n) is expected to returns the field value found in position n
of the field FieldName. For the table below FieldValue(F1, 3) will return c, instead of the expected value b
The function FieldValue() only returns distinct field values. This means that the highest position that can be referred is same as the number of distinct values in the field.
For the table below FieldValue(F1, 3) will return c
, since this is the third distinct value.
There are only three distinct values, so FieldValue(F1, 4) will return NULL.
The Peek() function is a common way to fetch values from specific rows in a field during application reloads.
For other inter record functions, in load scripts or chart objects, please see QlikView Reference manual.
