When trying to open a document in QlikView the following error may occur:
OUT OF VIRTUAL AND/OR LOGICAL MEMORY
This applies to the 32-bit version of the following products:
-
QlikView Desktop
-
QlikView Plugin
-
QlikView OCX
The error occurs due to QlikView running out of available memory. On 32-bit platforms the user memory address space is typically limited to 2 GB per process even though more physical memory may be available.
Note: QlikView does not support PAE/AWE
Verify how much RAM is being consumed by the QlikView process when a document is opened/being used. A rough estimate of RAM usage can be found using Windows Task Manager and the Processes tab.
Try limiting the memory usage by:
-
Streamlining the data set in the document. See if any data can be consolidated or aggregated to consume less memory
-
Isolating objects that are consuming memory or taking a long time to calculate.
-
Open the document in QlikView Desktop and go to Settings - Document Properties...
-
Go to the tab Sheets and in the list of objects, look at Calc Time and Memory for each object
-
Either remove, hide or change the definition of the object(s) consuming a lot of memory or taking a long time to calculate
Upgrade hardware and operating system to support 64-bit applications and install the 64-bit version of QlikView to support the memory required.
