Depending upon the number of CPU cores on the physical hardware being utilized for QlikView Server, all available CPU cores may not be shown as check boxes in the QlikView Management Console for version 11.
This is due to a truncation issue, which may not be addressed in this major release.System -> Setup -> QlikView Servers -> QVS@server, Performance
Fixed in 11.20 and versions beyond.
To change the number of cores the QlikView Server may utilize, use the following two 'keys' in the [Settings 7] area of the QlikView Server Settings.ini
file ( found in %ProgramData%\QlikTech\QlikViewServer
The value -1 equates to all CPU cores being used. The actual number to reduce the cores is a decimal representation of a 32-bit mask with the least significant bit placed first.
A system with 6 cores can be represented by the bit mask 11111111
To disable the first two cores the bit mask would be:001111
With the least significant bit placed first:111100
This equals 60, which should be placed into the MaxCoreMax
value in settings.ini
To disable the first, third and fourth core, the bit mas would be:010011
least significant bit first:110010
This equals to 50, which should be placed into the MaxCoreMask
is used to extend the mask beyond 32 bits.
